Attention all UESC units. Attention special operations team Sigma. This is Lieutenant Geoffrey Barnes. Be advised that Pfhor shock troops have breached our perimeter and are expected to assault the mainframe complex at any moment. Fusion units are reporting heavy losses. All units, fall back to the mainframe chamber and cover all access points; we're gonna have company soon. Barnes out.
//Uncertain source //Interrupt rerouted... //Receiving... Attention all surviving members of special operations team Sigma, this is Lieutenant Geoffrey Barnes. Critical systems of the alien ship are reactivating at random, and we're detecting massive fluctuations from the main power buses. Evacuate the mainframe immediately and get to the upper levels. We're beaming out.
My intuition was, of course, correct: the mainframe complex lies at the center of this annular structure. I've nearly breached the mainframe's countermeasures, but there's a physical interlock system preventing me from getting to the big prize. I'll need someone with opposable thumbs to finish the job. Think you're up to the challenge? That was rhetorical.
The mainframe complex is positively crawling with Pfhor. They've formed a defensive perimeter, and radio chatter from UESC fusion units suggests some Pfhor have infiltrated the mainframe itself. This degree of initiative is... uncharacteristic of our three-eyed friends. I'm almost positive there's an AI aboard this vessel pulling their strings, but my network scans haven't found anything. If there is an AI at work here, it's very thoroughly concealed its presence.
No matter. Get inside the mainframe and activate the six interlock switches, then initiate a core dump. I've maneuvered the Rozinante to facilitate data transfer from the derelict vessel, which coincidentally puts me squarely in range of the vessel's weapons. Let's finish here before this becomes an issue.
<Transmission error> //Warning: possible data corrup#[21~~ Something has gone terribly, terribly wrong. The vessel's weapon systems are lighting up like a Christmas tree and locking on to the Rozinante. Whatever you did inside that mainframe released a prodigiously unstable AI construct into the ship's network. What's worse, I think it just might be Leel&~@67
<Transmission error> //Warning: possible data corrup#[21~~ Hello again. Don't be afraid, cyborg: I'm not~/{{ the vengeful type. I know that you did all you could for me back on the Marathon.
