Greetings, Captain. I'm sorry to wake you before arrival, but I just received an urgent transmission for you from Admiral Davies. It is encoded for your eyes only, so I'm unable to view it. So don't expect me to know anything the Admiral said! Here's the message...
DISPLAYING ENCODED MESSAGE Well, my old friend, this is one message I wish I didn't have to send. I'm not going to dance around the issue, so let me just say it straight. Your son has been killed. Mark was still on his assignment in deep cover. He was apparently having fairly good success in infiltrating the terrorist hierarchy. His last report estimated that he would have the names of the top CPS leaders within a couple months. I guess that CPS found out who he was -- someone blew him out an airlock at New Plato. His backup team didn't save him in time. By the time he was in a sick bay, he was dead. Believe me, we verified that! We would have given him a new body, as we did for you, but his brain was too far gone. I am so sorry for your loss. We'll get the bastards who did this, though! We've listed him as having been transferred back Earthside in critical condition. CPS will realize that the longer he's alive, the greater the chances are that we will revive him. They must believe he knows something, so they'll try to get to him again. When they do, we'll be ready. Only you, I, and a couple trustworthy marines know the truth. Now, I'm just telling you this because of our history. I feel like you're the son I never had. But don't take advantage of me here! You can't allow emotion to screw up the mission! Enjoy blowing away as many CPS terrorists as you can find, but just keep your head! We need you to complete this mission, and we want you back alive. Good luck, son! END OF MESSAGE
