The planet below us is part of what Durandal refers to as the T'Karth system. It is abandoned now, but at one time a powerful race of creatures lived there. The once beautiful buildings on the surface and deep underground are mostly ruins now. Durandal wants us to see what we can find out about these beings and their technology. He has been collecting data from the massive computer network on the planet, but can't translate it. He is hoping you will be able to find one of their data crystals to help him decode the language. But first we have to get the transporter working.

There is another crystal in the frozen storage closets. See if it will plug into the slot in this room.

As the trih xeem exploded Lh'owon's sun, a force of light was released. A light greater than a thousand super novas. Swirling down, creating a hole of light. Perhaps it was the W'rkncacnter freed at last from their fiery prison on the Lh'owon sun. I do not know. Durandal may know. Or he may suspect. But he is not talking. He says he does not remember. He states that it is I, you, we who remember and have kept the logs. I think he is lying.
We found this space ship floating in the vortex, frozen, lifeless with no apparent power source. At the present time it is being towed by Durandal’s ship, Boomer. Communications are offline, the computer isn't functioning and many of the doors are frozen shut. Durandal had you transferred here together with some humans and compilers to try and get it operational. You haven't been much help though. I think Durandal neglected to wake you up. So far the S’pht have been able to get life support running and thaw out a few doors.
You are communicating with the Rozinante/Boomer through a small transmitter built into your suit. It is not powerful enough to transmit over more than a few metres without an external power source. Since you have already plugged it into this power source, I can see you have figured out how to get it working, so I will spare you the lecture Durandal prepared for you on how it works. The panel right in front of you is a power outlet, the unit beside it is one of the ship's computer terminals. When you are on the planet, find a large enough power source and your communicator can be used to relay your bio-pattern back to the ship for storage.
We have also made some improvements to your boots. They are now equipped with magnetic artificial gravity. Durandal claims he invented it, but it looks more like Pfhor technology to me. Just don't attempt to run with the gravity engaged.

Above the central core you will find an array of what looks like data storage units. We believe it controls ship communications and astrometrics.

The S'pht have found storage rooms with what look like data crystals in them here. The area was exposed to space and is far below freezing. If we had sent the Bobs in there they would have been instant Bob-cicles. Since your suit will protect you from the cold, go pick up the chips and see if they will fit into the communications array. Durandal has been calling these data storage chips D'Hara crystals. I don't know what a D'Hara is but using this outlet is draining a lot of the ships power. We need to get the comm terminals on line as soon as possible. When you open the door to the storage closets, take a good look at the crystals. Many of the crystal wafers shattered in the cold and are useless. You need to find whole ones.
The transporter will operate now. Hit the switch on your left and go to the room next door. Once down on the surface of the planet, try to find a data wafer Durandal wants. If your new communication unit doesn't work, Durandal says to return to your transportation point in two rotations of the T'Karth sun and he will bring you back to the ship. You will find ammunition and some weapons around the ship. Take what you think you will need and I'll talk to you again from the surface. There is a large cache of ammo and guns across the hall from your bedroom, but the door is frozen shut.

Durandal now firmly believes this ship belonged to the people from this planet or another planet in this star system. He has analyzed the crystal chips and thinks they are used as both storage devices and power sources to do everything from lighting lights to opening doors to creating whatever it is that powers this ship. He has picked up faint signals from the surface to indicate you will find more of the green data or D'Hara wafers down there. To activate the transporter, go to transportation control B, and hit the switch. If your new communication unit doesn't work, Durandal says to return to your transportation point in two rotations of the T'Karth sun and he will bring you back to the ship. You will find ammunition and some weapons around the ship. Take what you think you will need and I'll talk to you again on the surface.
