What looks to be a Pfhor Dreadnought has entered Alpha Centauri orbit. We have dispersed the civilian population into the outlying wilderness. None of us have any illusions about how many this will save, however. We are at best buying time for a miracle.
incm (mref028271-1700) (2/4) In the meantime, something odd has come up. Concomitant to the arrival of the Pfhor Dreadnought, this character calling itself "S'bhuth" began communicating with us.
incm (mref028271-1700) (3/4) According to this S'bhuth entity, there is a very old text manuscript located on the colony, brought here from Earth by a rather eccentric religious group. S'bhuth claims that this text contains an encoded virus of some sort - we can't figure out exactly where the text came from or how S'bhuth has any knowledge of it, but it might be able to incapacitate the Pfhor ship.
incm (mref028271-1700) (4/4) Nonetheless, this long shot appears to be the only chance we have to save the colony. We have no assets in space that can match a Dreadnought and pathetically little in the way of surface-to-space defenses. S'bhuth claims that if you can get the manuscript, he can transport you onto the Pfhor ship and upload the text into the Pfhor control systems. The manuscript is kept in the colony's main church.
