Time: 11:58, September 19 Location: Renegade prison center This is the prison center I was telling you about. The Pfhor have gone their own way, now; rather than continuing on through here, they decided to pass through the tunnel you may have seen back in the screening hall. They're not that far from us, but as far as we're concerned, they're removed from the conflict. It's just us and the Renegades, again. We've suffered severe losses, but the gains are good. We're actually in the citadel, and within spitting distance of the Dark Star. However, we can't just go running in; it's sealed off. Completely. Karuma's influence, such as it is, is completely preventing any entrance into the tower. There are no physical entrances, and all teleport lines have been severed until further notice. So we're stuck for the moment.

However, as I have previously said, the majority of Karuma's construction lies within a series of personality cells underneath the prison structure. While destroying them would not totally defeat her, they would do enough damage that we could actually gain access to the tower itself. See where it's going? There are a couple dozen of your crew mates locked in captivity in four cells underneath the prison block. Your first task should be to rescue them, because doing the second task first would result in their deaths.

Karuma's personality cells are positioned over a pit of lava, for a couple of reasons; one of them is physical necessity. A recently-developed volcanic fissure has developed in the area, and it needs some place to drain the excess lava bubbling over. Karuma's chamber doubles as a place where lava is pumped in and out at a regular basis. We've sent you another card. Insert it into the mainframe near Karuma's cells, and it will immediately terminate the pumping subroutine. The end result is that the facility will flood with lava. You've done fire escapes before; this one is no different, but you can see why I want you to save the crew members first.

Be 100% certain that you've opened all four prison cells before you insert the card into Karuma's mainframe. When you're finished, look for a teleport-capable terminal, and we will enter the tower to end this, once and for all.

[ S'pht translator active ] Message from Karuma commences: Defensive measures in prison cell-structure 159 need to be raised from Security Standard 4 (Strong) to Security Standard 7 (Triple-Maximum). The human incursion has made its way into the citadel and it appears they are making a move on me, as well as the prisoners. Every yet-standing defensive unit inside the citadel within three miles of prison cell-structure 159 and not actively assigned to some other duty is hereby ordered to defend the prison and repel the incursion at all costs. Thank you! In these difficult times, your faithful obedience helps us beyond the strongest of weapons.

I have failed. It thrills me to know that a species as cocky and seemingly invulnerable as mine is bested by a species as cocky and seemingly invulnerable as yours. So I guess the only question is... which species is truly the unkillable insect? The Pfhor... or Humankind?

Prepare for teleport.
