We don't quite know how to break this to you, but you've been selected to lead yet another interstellar dog fight against the worst alien scum anywhere. It looks as though we had better bring you up to speed on some ancient history. Back in the mid to late 2000's, deep space travel and charting the stars was just beginning. A probe sent out to look for other habbitable worlds stumbled upon a planet with a rare mineral used for fuel that is so powerful and dense, it lets ships travel faster than light. This fuel is called Dithlaxium, and word of it's discovery from the probe reached Earth at around 2230 AD. At around that time, space travel was fast for small ships. Larger ones were clumsy and slow. When word of the minerals' discovery hit the solar system, colonies on Earth, Mars, Mercury and Pluto sent mining ships toward the newly discovered treasure box located 67 light years away. Mercury's ships were small and fast, but could carry little cargo. Earth's ship was a huge one. Capable of carrying the entire mass of Jupiter's moon, Io. Mars' ship was also big, but not as grand.. It was stuffed with weapons though, ready for an attack. The Mars colonists called it, Atlantis. Pluto's ship was also big, but smaller than Mars'. Mercury, even though it was the farthest away from the prize, zoomed out in front. Mars got mad at them, so the giant red planet's ship fired 2 anti-matter warheads at Mercury's ship. 2 weeks later, they hit their mark and a class 9 shock wave took out Earth's Titanic cargo ship. Pluto was out in front now, but their mission had ended when a malfunction in life support killed all the crew. As Atlantis slowly inched past the dead cruser, crew of their own ship pondered their fates. Centuries pass. Durring this time, the discovery is forgotten as aliens invade a large mining ship named Marathon, and your mess with the aliens begins. Smaller ships from other star systems that you pass through join in the hunt for dithlaxium, but are eventualy lost to the void of space one way or another-no fuel, no air, no power. They almost all died out. Atlantis was really close then, only 5 weeks away. Right about then, your well into your finnal battle on Lh'owon, looking forward to better days. Sadly, The S'pht and the Pfhor have noticed Atlantis' little crusade space race and it's goal of finding dithlaxium, and so have decided to take over the ship. Their first attack on it was useless as Atlantis deployed their fleet of little ships against the foes. The S'pht retreated first, and then the Pfhor lauch their attack, crippling Mars' hope for the gold. A distress call is sent to Earth, not to get there for 67 years. That distress call was recieved yesterday. We require your assistance in this matter. You are the only one that is trained well enough to take on this scum. We don't even know what's happening there. Get ready. We have canceled your vacation. Don't worry, you'll be home soon. If you're lucky. Somewhere on your island, we have teleported a simple weapon to aid in the first battle.
