EMERGENCY: DEFENSE CONDITION 1 At 0430 hours, this post came under surprise attack from unknown hostile forces and has sustained serious damage. Alien forces breached our defenses and entered the station at 0520 hours. Implementation of ADP has been delayed due to the extent of damage. The information from the AI who sent you here indicates that these aliens are pirates. They have destroyed long and short-range communications systems, and severely damaged my external control processors. If you are going to be of any use to this station, you will need to find the transporter terminal located on the terrace of observation deck 1. When you get there I will brief you further. There is at least one (and possibly more) suit recharger left functioning on this level, but some of my memory loci have been scrambled, beyond registering it on the power grid, I cannot show you where it is.

Here is your current location. Real-time sensors are offline, so I've recalled some archive images of the station.

This is maintenance area 64-a. You will find a pattern buffer here, as well as controls for the emergency passageway interlocks. The circuitry which manages these interlocks was badly damaged in the attack, and the safety force fields deployed automatically. A technician had been working on the local teleporters... you may find that these can bypass the force fields. In order to gain access to the rest of the port, you'll need to manually override those interlocks.

Access to lower levels of the space port is provided through this communications terminal. The hallway that leads to it is directly to your left, but unfortunately, the designers neglected to provide direct access from this point.

Rock Island Space Post Apology Terminal

Incoming message from ranga@soda.berkeley.edu This is the official apology terminal If you are reading this it means that you must have found the SSM or you must be one froody guy. The purpose of this terminal is to apologize. I'm sorry. There I said it, I hope it makes you happy, and yes I promise not to describe PERL (awk is futile, sed is irrelevant) programing in detail. Two questions for the Hitchikers/X-Philes out there. First Question: Has anyone noticed that there are exactly six guys in that one room (the same as the number of people who know where the real power is in the galaxy)? Second question: Is it a coincidence that Mulders appartment number is 42 (the ultimate answer to the ultimate question of life, the universe and everything). If anyone besides me has observed these or other interesting things please mail me (the address at the beginning of this message is legit). Well that's about it, just remember DON'T PANIC!
