Marine's Thoughts- Journal Entry 2

Well, I survived the night. I can continue my wanderings now. It will be much easier now that it's light out here. There seems to be a lot less of those beasts around here now. Maybe they mostly come out at night. I've got to look for a way off this planet. I can't stay here forever.

Marine's Thoughts- Journal Entry 3

This planet is very interesting. The liquid here has a very low density, and I can swim around in it very quickly. It also seems to have a very low boiling point. At night, the liquid has qualities similar to those of water, but during the day, it's warm enough here that the liquid boils. The thing I don't know is why it turns red. Maybe there's a type of microscopic life form in it that is triggered by the intense heat. But that's not the most important thing in this area. It seems like a ship crashed here a few hundred years ago. The crash site is now submerged in this lake, which happens to be boiling right now. If I judged by what I can see from here, I would say it's U.E.S.C in design, but that's impossible. Isn't it? After all, I have no idea where I am. The only way I can see to study the ship more closely is to search for an entrance. I wonder where I could find one...

Marine's Thoughts- Journal Entry 4

This ship looks like it's been here even longer than I suspected. Suprisingly enough though, it still has partial power. This terminal is very interesting. It's totally interactive, unlike most terminals. This means that if an AI sent a message through it, anyone reading it could send a message back. Hmmm..... I think I got it to work. I'll try to access the ship's records. Then I can find who built it and maybe even where I am.

There! It works!

Please identify yourself. It's been 159 years since I've talked to anyone, so it would be good if I knew who you were. I'm a UESC marine, and I have no idea where this is or why I am here. Maybe you could provide me with some information on that? Yes. I will do that. But first, I will tell you who I am. I am Lyragon, a Falion artificial intelligence. This ship crashed here 159 years ago, and was constructed by an organization called the UESC, which I believe you just mentioned you were a part of. Anyway, the UESC has no presence in this part of the universe, and no one in this sector has ever met anyone from the UESC. It is for this reason that I theorize that this ship accidently stumbled into a worm hole, lost control inside it, and smashed into this planet.

Because of our lack of information on the UESC, when this ship was detected, I transferred myself into the ship's computers. When the vessel crashed, I survived, but only partial power was maintained, and I can no longer contact any other ship or transfer myself to anywhere else. Nor can I fix the ship, for I lack physical form. So I am stuck here. You see my predicament. Who are these "Falions"? What part of the universe is this? If I'm ever going to get back home, I need to know where I am. You are in a place known only as "Sector 789 B" as far the UESC is concerned. No UESC vessel has ever been here, with the exception of the one you currently stand in. It's simply too far away from the UESC's realm of space. If you had a working ship, it would take 749 years to fly home.

Maybe that will help you get an idea of the distance. So I can't fly home. The thing that got me here certainly can move objects across that distance pretty fast, though. I wonder if I could use it to get back... It might not be easy, though. I didn't see any structures here that were anything like the one on Faleioss... Of what structure do you speak? Well, it's a long story. When I was transported here I was on a mission for the UESC, under the command of an AI named Adar. I was investigating the source of a massive power surge, originating on a planet called Faleioss. When I arrived on the planet, the Ph'for were already there- The Ph'for? I know of the Ph'for.

The Ph'for empire has one of the most powerful armies in this sector. They are an evil race. They conquer weaker races that have no chance of survival. You've got to be kidding. You mean the Ph'for are here too? Maybe a group of Ph'for were isolated from the rest a long time ago and somehow found themselves here... Anyway, the UESC have been at war with them for a long time... So we both know the Ph'for as enemies. Now, continue your story. We found a structure that we were sure the power was coming from. Adar sent me inside, alone. I search the structure for hours until I found a glowing green pad. I stepped onto it, and it stunned me and I was unconscious for a while. When I woke, I was here.

I think I may know what you are talking about. I think you found the teleporter my creators built... You see, long ago, my creators lived on a planet called Faleioss. It may be the same one you spoke of. They lived there for thousands of years, but then they detected some strange readings in their star. It seemed like it was going to supernova. They knew they had to do something, so they built a teleporter, that brought the entire race to this sector. They brought me with them. They had created me shortly before they left. No more Falions reside on that planet, but their buildings remain. The reason for that is that the sun never did supernova. It was unstable, yes, but it is still intact to this day. Now, the Falions are all dead , because the Ph'for slaughtered every last one of them. But... there may be a way back for you. Before they died, the Falions made a second teleport. This one teleported

beings back to their original world, lest they ever wanted to return. The location of this second teleport still eludes me. If you ever want to go home, however, this is the only way. Right now, though, we should focus on getting this ship off the ground. To do this would be to free both of us. The map at right is a map of the ship. The ship is a Behemoth Class Cargo Ship (Mark 7). I got you this blueprint from the UESC database. If were going to fix the ship, the first thing you need to do is activate the emergency power. That should get all the system running again. The switch that turns the emergency power on is in the bridge, on the 3rd floor. First you can take the stairway in this room to get up to the second floor. Then you can go down the hallway, through the Core Containment room, into the Sensor Monitoring room where the lifts are. The lifts take you directly to the Bridge.

The switch looks like this. Once you flip it, the whole ship will come to life. Good luck finding your way around.

You are now in the core section of the ship. The core itself was damaged in the crash, and that's why the ship only has partial power. To get to the bridge from here, simply use the door behind you, head down the hallway, and go into the sensor room. Take the lifts straight to the bridge from there. You have followed my instructions very well so far. You also might want to know that a gun can be found on the bridge. It is a simple .44 pistol, but it should suffice if you need to fight. I wish you well.

This is the weapons control section of the ship. You have not followed my directions correctly and you have strayed from the path I gave you. I might as well tell you about this section. When this ship was in full working order, you could trigger the cannons this ship possesses by accessing this terminal. In the crash, all the weapons were damaged beyond repair. Even if the power was returned, they would not work. Anyway, retrace your steps, reread my other message, and follow the path I gave you. This will lead you to the bridge.

This portion of the ship contains the docking bays. It had almost completely lost power before you triggered the extra power. Most of these bays are useless, since they were literally torn from the ship when it "landed". Now, if you want me to tell what you need to do next to get this ship working, go to the captain's quarters, shown at right. These will be your quarters, since there is no one else on the ship at the moment.

You have reached the bridge. Good job following my directions. Quickly now, go flip the emergency power switch! Again, it looks like this.

Good work. The whole ship is now at full power, but we cannot fly it away just yet. There are a number of other things we must do. If you go to the captain's quarters, I will tell you what we need to do next. Getting to the quarters is a simple matter. Take the door next to this terminal. Go down the hallway. When you reach a fork, turn right. Continue that way until you reach a door. Open it and step inside. You will then have reached the captain's quarters. Also, the quarters look like this.

Wanted to see what would happen if you went to the captain's quarters before you turned on the power? Well this isn't a secret exit! Get Out.

The next thing we need to do to fix the ship is rather complicated. If you hadn't noticed, we're buried in a few tons of rock. I think I know how we can get rid of it. Here's the plan- I send you down to the lowest areas of the ship. These areas weren't really designed for people to travel through, but I hope you can get through. It gets worse though. These sections are also flooded with engine coolant, and they may even be filled with the black creatures of this planet. After all, it's been far too long for them not to be there. You'll be trying to collect a chip that, when inserted, should reactivate this ship's shields. That should take care of all the stuff were buried in. It wont be an easy job, and you wont be able to see well in there, but I believe you can do it.

Once you're there, I can transport some more weapons and ammo to you, in case you meet anything. I can transport you there from here. I wish you well. ********PREPARE FOR TRANSPORT**************
