ATTENTION TRAVELLERS: To make your stay on Missed Island more pleasant, visitors are encouraged to observe the following guidelines: • As you've already noticed (or you wouldn't be reading this message), this scenario contains terminals that don't look at all like the ones you're used to in Marathon. You'll find terminals in the forms of books, bookcases, pieces of paper, and other devices. There are switches in many forms other than the usual yard-square Marathon design. In short, be prepared to use your Action key in places where your Marathon experience might lead you to believe that it won't do anything.
• One of the big differences between a game like Marathon and a game like Myst is that in the latter, the designers have full control over where you can go. If they don't feel that being able to jump off a cliff or dive into the water adds to the storyline, they can disallow those particular moves. In Marathon, the only constraints on movement are geometrical. If I allow you to walk up to the shoreline or a cliff's edge, there's nothing I can do to prevent you from taking one more step. I will tell you up front that there will NEVER be anything accomplished by diving in or jumping off in this scenario. You will not be able to reach any useful locations you couldn't otherwise reach, and you won't discover any new secrets. On the other hand, you WILL find some rather ugly views, since Missed Island is designed to optimize the view from reasonable locations rather than underwater. If you ignore this advice, or simply slip and fall, there are teleporters that will return you to higher ground, although you may have to move around a little to find one.
• The solutions to all puzzles on Missed Island can be determined in some way other than resorting to brute force.
