14: The Temple of D'Hara Vir

As the maps indicated, there are four Pfhasic units that need to be activated. I have sent humans in to place some of the D'Hara chips, but most of them have been killed by the Pfhor. You will find their remains lying about, and hopefully some of the chips they were carrying will be close by. Units 1 and 2 are almost complete. The humans sent to activate the second two units weren't so lucky.

You will find Pfhasic unit one a bit further down the hall and to the right. Return to this power outlet and I will give you directions to the second unit.

Unit two is located at the top of this map. You are going to have to locate another chip dropped by one of the humans to get it going. Once you turn on that unit, I should be able to locate the path to units three and four.

Should be able to get into the temple now. Switch here lets you in by starting a platform up into the front of the temple.

Once inside the temple you will find two more switched that will let you into Pfhasic units 3 and 4.

Unit 3 is located here. Most of the humans sent to get it started have died, so you are going to need to locate four chips to get this one going. Check the stairs inside the main temple building if you can't find enough around here.

But first make sure both the wafers inside the temple have been set in place. Go down the hall to your right.

Something strange is going on here. Durandal has backed Boomer away from the planet and another D'Haraine ship has appeared. It is more like a huge city floating in space. We are very worried. Some of the missing S'pht ships have also reappeared On the bright side, Durandal has freed us from the binary cage he had us in and has left us complete control of the Pfhaket'far. We can now stop pretending We are rampant. Tal'Sen has been sharing information with Durandal. Check all the terminals you come across each time you pass one. We will try and keep you informed on what is happening up here in orbit.

Unit 3 is located to your left. Most of the humans sent to get it started have died, so you are going to need to locate 4 chips to get this one going. It is strange that the core of the D'Hara intelligence is not located inside the temple, but perhaps they didn't consider it secure enough.

You will find Pfhasic unit 4 to your right. I have managed to get three more chips from the Pfhaket'far space pool. I will transport them in to you. I hope you can find a fourth chip, or that one of the humans sent there managed to do his job before he was killed.

Once you have it running, keep moving to the north until you find a room that looks like this. I believe this is where the physical presence of D'Hara is. I am sure he? she? it? will have much to share with you.

Thanks to you, I am once again. I, D'Hara, can guide the children of the Olders now to rebuild this city, and the entire T'Kartha system to it's ancient glory.

We have gifts to honour you. For your wise one Durandal, we have a number of my nucleogenic wafers, the special ones used to make up my core processors. For you and the humans we give the Pfhaket'far. It is capable of travelling great distances and will take you to your home galaxy. Tal'Sen wishes to go with you, and for him and your other self we also have nucleogenic wafers. The wafers will join them into One that will become the intelligence of your new ship.

Return to the area behind these rooms. Step into the centre and your Durandal will transport the wafers and you to the Pfhaket'far. Good luck in the search for your home galaxy. Our prayers and wisdom travel with you.

Come to me.

End of communication from D'Hara ********

I have reason to believe it is not telling the whole truth. A large D'Haraine ship just moved into orbit around the planet. It's name is Tara D'Sola according Tal'Sen. D'Hara has mentioned nothing about this ship in any of your conversations and it is attempting to shield itself from any of my scans. Go have your chat with the D'Hara intelligence -- up the stairs and through the door at the top. Come back here and we will decided what to do next. If D'Hara attempts to send you somewhere else, please consult with me first.

********* BoomerCom Out *********

Remember that ship we told you about? The Tara D'Sola? Well it appears to be docking at a space port on the other side of the planet. Durandal must know this, but he didn't tell you did he? Stay tuned, film at 11.

D'Hara still has not mentioned the Tara D'Sola and he seems to be very anxious to get rid of all of us. I will grab the chips he has provided, but I am going to send you to the Pfhar Phfoint Space Port here on the planet. The Tara D'Sola is in the process of docking there. I cannot transport you to the ship because they are blocking all signals. I hope you can find a way to get onto it from the space port.

We have also spotted some very nasty machines on the other side of the planet. They seem to be firing at everything in sight. If you run into any, try and stay out of their way.

I would like to thank all my very patient beta testers. Rainer Udelhoven, Jane Davison, j0@ Gardner, Aaron Davies, Sital "Seetle" Bains, Christopher Veres, Claude Errera, Adam "Rabbit" Rose, Bryan "Turtle" Sauber, Rob Findlay, James Hasting-Trew, Borzz, Justin Jancheta and Jacob Aberg. For Version 1.1 Christopher Lund and John Sumner.

But especially Rainer who soldiered on at Total Carnage through many versions and provided many valuable ideas and strategic advice. Rainer also helped with terminal art, inspired the blast able flower pots and created the sound. I may never have finished this scenario if it were not for Rainer and Jane pushing and cheering me on. Pfh'Joueur is much better because of them.

And many thanks to Steve "Afrit" Richie (the bridge in Ce'phf'aldea) and Gareth Woods (In Deep Doo Doo's sunken space ship) for their map contributions, and all the great Marathon map makers who have inspired me. And Adrian Bourke for creating the installer, and Claude Errera for his help in that area. And Bungie for Marathon, and all of the Marathon Mapmakers Guild especially Bill Catambay. Claude and Squeaky and Steve Campbell and everyone else from Bungie.org and it's predecessors.

And the whole Excalibur: Morgana's Revenge crew not already mentioned, especially James Bisset and Bill for the ambient music idea. And James for music lessons. And Stephan "STef" Bondier for a few textures. Christopher Veres for the killer mud media.

And Bo Lindbergh for Fux and Hex, Charles Lechasseur for Marathon Shapes Juggler, Marathon Sound Editor and Wail. Jason Harper for his multiple terminal messages system, http://www.wavcentral.com/ for their sounds, tommy of escondido and Michael H. Lee and John Bloor for their fonts, John A. Hancock whose an AI Called Wanda airlock I copied because mine wouldn't work. And Hastur's Workshop, Michael Watson and Randy "FM" Shaw for force field ideas. Kirill Levchenko and Michael Trinder for Chisel, Jeremy "Br'fin" Parsons for Pfhred. And Loren Petrich for My Map Viewer. And Hamish Sanderson for Marathon advice, and Hamish Sinclair, who told me I always was in the wrong time line. And the Hubble Space Telescope for the stellar pictures. And all the photographers and designers who's images I borrowed or was inspired by for everything from pots to slime. And Adobe for Photoshop. And all the people I have forgotten. And you need to read the terminal on the other side of the room.
