We have traveled to a new section of the fortress. ... According to the maps, we can soon feed. This is the logistics and research section of their vessel, which is powered off of a central power system. It is somewhat unconnected to the rest of their fortress. Then we must move to feed at once. Herein lies the problem. There is no free lunch. The master logistics computer is sealed in a vault. Without enabling the external monitoring stations, you cannot enter this vault. It is intended to be a control center, but the systems are powered remotely. That is the worst idea we have ever heard. Nevertheless, we must deal with it. There are four external monitoring stations. They are identified by a large picture of a nearby planet -- their records call it 'Earth' -- and have a small power button adjacent to it. You must activate all of these. Is the mission this easy? No. Guh. From there you must locate the master computer system. You cannot enter the vault before you toggle the switches, but from there, log onto the computer outside of the vault and it will allow you access inside. From there... we may feed. Our rejuvenation is near. And it is not our last one before we rest again...

Pfhor message: "All cybernetic systems, when not in use, are to be plugged into energy systems (across from this bulletin). This is to ensure that they do not fail in a critical moment. Considering that we are in a state of alert, it is vital that all combat mechanical units are fully prepared to take down the intruder. Stay alert. Much like the human cybernetic units, our intruder is also capable of using our energy battery systems to recharge its batteries. Therefore the energy battery cells (behind) must be protected at all costs. Do not allow this room to be compromised. Any other research or monitoring modules in this sector must also be protected. Any unassigned combat units or free personnel are hereby ordered to protect one such module. Talk to the nearest officer of rank 'Enforcement' or higher for your official duties. Failure to comply with the posted orders will result in the execution of Protocol 412, in regards to physical and social punishment of personnel and crew insubordination."

Where are we? The master computer's vault is nearby. We aren't yet ready to enter the vault. Why are we near the vault? Did you forget your instructions? You must activate all of the remote monitoring stations first. I was already on my way. We cannot wait.

Where are we? The master computer's vault is nearby. Then why are we not AT the vault? We cannot feed from out here. The master computer is inside the vault and that is where we must feed. Locate the vault and enter it so we may feed. I was already on my way. We hunger.

This is the vault. We cannot yet enter it because one of us halves of the same consciousness has failed to toggle all of the remote monitoring stations. How can the other inhabitant of our body be such a pain in our shared neck? Silence. You are on the right track. However, every moment in which we spend not locating the remaining monitoring stations is a moment in which we have not located the remaining monitoring stations. So locate the remaining monitoring stations. Guh. Once we have finished that, then we may return here. Activate this terminal again after you have finished so that we may open the door. We feed soon, yes? Yes.

success

I am finished with my chore. And so the door may open.

Does the flow of pure energy into our systems not rejuvenate you? It is insufficent. Yes. This vessel harvests energy from the planet's core. Perhaps these 'Pfhor' are going to attempt an attack on the humans in this region and need this station to power their ships. If that is the case, then there must be a much larger power station somewhere further in. We must move. These Pfhor are making our job difficult. Not my job. Just yours. The Pfhor are woefully ignorant about advanced artifical intelligence and the resistance I have encountered has been less than pathetic. Unfortunately, their soft meaty bodies do seem to be getting in your way. I must have more weapons. Mustn't we all? Bring us to the next section of the station, so we may feed again. I shall. Unfortunately, we are not permitted to teleport directly in. We must move physically through their vessel to reach the core. Then we cannot wait any longer. Quite.
